The Infection

What was happening? Artemis couldn’t help but wonder as he led his younger brother Dante through the hallways of their school. They’d seen someone get attacked outside the school and were anxiously searching for their brother Jacen and his friend Alex. Something like what they'd seen outside had never happened before and screams could be heard in the distance. He wasn't sure where they were coming from exactly either. Jacen and Alex were supposed to have just finished band practice, so Artemis was hoping that’s where they still were and was working on getting there with Dante.

After a few minutes, Artemis paused when he heard a noise in a nearby classroom, quickly grabbing Dante’s hand.

Dante was still shocked from the attack they had seen, it had been so brutal and seemingly no reason behind it. He followed his older brother as they searched for Jacen and Alex, worried about them. Nervously he stopped as Artemis grabbed his hand, "A-Arty?"

"Did...did you here that?" Artemis asked quietly, looking around nervously. "I think it was from in there..." He added, pointing to the door of a classroom.

"S-Should we check it out Arty?" Dante asked softly, he had heard it too. "M-Maybe someone else is there too..."

"I don't know..." Artemis mumbled, gripping Dante's hand tighter without meaning to. After a moment, there was a groan of pain, followed by someone cursing under their breath.

Dante frowned worriedly and moved forward to check out the sound, "Someone's hurt..." He opened the door and looked into the small room, "H-Hello?"

Jasper Trudeau, one of the school's teachers was in the room, on the floor by the teacher's desk, the chair fallen over. He slowly got to his feet, muttering angrily to himself.

"S-Sir?" Dante asked softly as he stepped into the room, "Are you okay?"

"Yes, yes I'm fine." Jasper muttered, putting a hand on his desk to steady himself. "Perfectly fine..."

"Your not hurt are you sir? Do you know what's going on? We've heard all this screaming and we saw someone being attacked earlier..." Dante said softly, the man seemed okay.

"I'm fine. I just fell." Jasper replied before frowning. "What do you mean someone was attacked?"

Dante looked worriedly at his brother, "I-It was crazy sir... This man attacked one of the teachers outside... It was so strange... Why did you fall sir?"

Artemis shifted nervously, brushing a hand through his hair.

"Which teacher? I haven't heard anything..." Jasper replied before sighing. "Nothing to worry about, I just leaned too far back on the chair."

"I think it was Mr. Larkin sir..." Dante said softly, "There was a lot of blood..." He bit his lip as he looked at Jasper.

"Was he okay?" Jasper asked, looking worried.

"I... I don't know, the others took him away and... Shortly after that's when the screams started... We're currently going to look for our oldest brother... Maybe you could come with sir?"

"What others?" Jasper asked, glancing out the window instead of answering Dante's other question.

Artemis was pacing, worried about their brother and his friend.

"The other teachers..." Dante said as he watched, "Please sir... It might be better if we have more then two looking for our brother and friend..."

Alex was nervous as he looked out the window, "This is crazy..."

Jasper sighed, turning back to them. "Alright."

"What is?" Jacen asked from the storage cupboard, in the middle of packing up the band equipment.

"Thank you sir!" Dante said softly, finding himself relaxing a little.

"There is screaming... And it looks like people are attacking each other... Jacen..."

"Where are they?" Jasper asked them.

"They're what?" Thinking he was joking, Jacen stopped what he was doing and went over to Alex, pulling a face when he saw. "Probably the football team in a bad mood." He said jokingly.

"I think the music room, they have a band that they play in." Dante answered.

"Dude... That... isn't normal down there... Its like something out of a zombie moving..."

"Right... You two are those Westmore kids, aren't you?" Jasper asked, recognising them a little.

Jacen laughed and shook his head. "You're joking right? This isn't a movie. Probably just a fight too many people got involved in."

"Yeah, well two of the three." Dante answered, "I'm Dante sir and my brother is Artemis."

"Then where are the police Jacen... If it was just a fight they'd be here..." Alex said.

Jasper nodded. "I know who Jacen is." He said, frowning. "I taught him last year."

"Maybe they're on the way." Jacen shrugged, going back to packing up.
